Heavensward Flying mounts confirmed!
MMO Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will get flying mounts in its Heavensward Expansion, Square Enix has announced at its London Fan Festival.
The
Game's director Naoki Yoshida said that the Black Chocobo you can see
in the image to the right will probably be the first flying mount
players will be able to get, but that Square Enix is currently
developing six flying mounts, with one supposedly playing an important
role in the story. Yoshida also said that eventually players will be
able to own their own airship. You'll be able to take off, fly, and land
anywhere you want in the new Heavensward zones, but not in older areas.
Yoshida
said one of the new jobs in the expansion is called Dark Knight, which
is meant to tank for a party and can wield a two-handed greatsword.
Players will have access to the Dark Knight job as soon as they buy the
expansion, and it won't require a base class.
Yoshida also revealed two new beast tribes you can see in the image gallery below: the Vanu Vanu and the Gnath.
Square Enix announced Heavensward
at the Final Fantasy XIV Fanfest event in Las Vegas, where it revealed
the it will raise the level cap to 60, and introduce new Primals,
dungeons, high end raids, and jobs. The expansion will release in spring
2015.

Levequest Fish Summary
Updating with best ways to catch, mostly a list for nowFSH Level 1 Levequest Fish
Merlthor Goby: Limsa Lominsa lower decks | Lugworm
Malm Kelp: Limsa Lominsa lower decks | Lugworm
Lominsan anchovy: Limsa Lominsa lower decks | Lugworm
Finger Shrimp: Limsa Lominsa lower decks | Lugworm
FSH Level 5 Levequest Fish
Harbor Herring [R]
Sea Cucumbers [R]
Coral Butterfly
Ocean Cloud
I had zero need to use leves in this tier. But I guess I can try to find the best ways to catch these and update…
FSH Level 10 Levequest fish
Pebble Crab [R]: Swiftperch, WLN | Goby Ball
Harbor Herring [R]: Swiftperch, WLN | Goby Ball
Tiger Cod: Swiftperch, WLN | Goby Ball
Moraby Flounder: Swiftperch, WLN | Goby Ball
Thankfully Swiftperch offers a decent chance to catch all of them with a single type of bait. I did not delve into how to catch each specifically, as it’s pretty unneeded in this tier.
FSH Level 15 Levequest fish
Helmet Crab [R]: Difficult to isolate | Skull Valley | Rat Tail
White Coral [R]: Difficult to isolate | Brewers Beacon (MLN) | Goby Ball
Razor Clam: Crescent Cove (WTH) | Rat Tail
Rothlyt Osyter: Silver Bazaar (WTH) | Rat Tail
There’s no great universal spot to farm more than 2 of these at a time. If you’re bent on using a few leves, you’re best off trying to farm the clams, BUYING pebble crabs, and abandoning the coral levequest.
FSH Level 20 Levequest fish
Dark Sleeper [R]: Difficult to isolate |
Faerie Bass [R]: Difficult to isolate |
Copperfish: Raincatcher Gully, East Agelyss River (ELN) | 100% catch
Black Eel: Yug’ram River (ETH) | Butterworm | Night, 100% catch
FSH Level 25 Levequest fish
Dark Bass [R]: Difficult to isolate |
Five-Ilm Pleco [R]: Difficult to isolate |
Black Ghost: Difficult to isolate |
Yugr’am Salmon: The Burning Wall (XTH) | 100% catch
FSH Level 30 Levequest fish
Black Soles [R]:
Indigo Herring [R]:
Ash Tuna:
Indigo Herring:
FSH Level 35 Levequest fish
Giant Bass [R]:
Lamp Marimo [R]: Exploratory Icehole | xxx > xxx
Crimson Trout
Seema
FSH Level 40 Levequest fish
Abalatian Smelt [R]:
Golden Loach [R]: Difficult to isolate |
Bronze Lake Trout: The Nail (CCH) |
Northern Pike: Exploratory Ice Hole (CCH) | Topwater Frog
FSH Level 45 Levequest fish
Sludgeskipper [R]: Ceruleum Field (NTH) | Stem Borer > Glowworm
Ignus Snail [R]: Ceruleum Field (NTH) | Stem Borer > Glowworm
Ilsabardian Bass: Ceruleum Field (NTH) | Topwater Frog > Glowworm
Boltfish: Ceruleum Field (NTH) | Mooch from Silverfish
All of these (Except Boltfish) can ALSO can be caught much nearer the levemete in Mor Dhona – North Silvertear. Glowworm is your catch-all lure. If you’re short on snails and skippers, use Stem Borer. If you’re short on bass use Topwater Frog. If you’re short on Boltfish – good luck
Best in Slot (BiS) for Black Mage (BLM) in 2.4 FFXIV
Okay so you wanna PEW PEW in 2.4 as Black Mage? You came to the right place to find the gear you need to do just that. But before we begin let me say: due to the nature of BLM stats, as no stat is “wasted”, there are many configurations of BiS (Differin on personal stat preference). Each set having its own set of ups and down. I will first list what MY BiS would be if I mained a BLM. I will post other configurations.
For the sake of the table below, Augmented Ironworks and Dreadwyrm serve as natural fillers to each other even if not mentioned.
BLM
|
BiS
|
Pre-13
|
Fillers
|
||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Weapon | Dreadwyrm Staff | ||||
Off-hand | - | - | - | ||
Head | Augmented Ironworks Hood Of Casting | ||||
Body | Dreadwyrm Robe Of Casting | ||||
Hand | Dreadwyrm Gloves Of Casting | ||||
Waist | Dreadwyrm Belt Of Casting | ||||
Legs | Augmented Ironworks Breeches Of Casting | ||||
Boots | Augmented Ironworks Boots Of Casting | ||||
Neck | Dreadwyrm Choker Of Casting | ||||
Ears | Augmented Ironworks Earrings Of Casting | ||||
Wrist | Augmented Ironworks Bracelet Of Casting | ||||
Ring | Augmented Ironworks Ring Of Casting | ||||
Ring | Dreadwyrm Ring Of Casting | ||||
Food | Sachertorte | Any | Any |
So this would be my BiS with the goal of having a huge amount of SPELLSPEED. You can, of course, come to similar final stats with a number of configurations. Notably built around the t11 chest drop. A huge upside for the list is that it hits accuracy cap without food.
Using the Augmented Ironworks Weapon allows you to use the Augmented Ironworks Chest. which is a good way to use up excess Poetics tomes (and 2 Carbontwine…) in case you’re not beating t13 anytime soon.
Any Dreadwyrm gear without spellspeed should first be given to your Summoner if you’re sharing gear with one.
2.4 BLM Poetics Tomes Buy Order
So what do Black Mages buy with Poetics tomes? And in what order? Saving up for weapon is only really good if you’re close to getting Carbontwine from Phoenix. Otherwise, HA makes a great alternative. If you’re going for the weapon, you’ll have a huge excess of accuracy which isn’t bad since you can mix and match gear!- Legs are a legit choice. Dread drops in t13.
- (Weapon, though read the above)
- Boots. Dread drops in t11.
- Head. Dread drops in t10.
- Gloves. Dread drops in t10.
- Earrings. Dread drops in t13.
- Ring: forced. Dread drops in t10.
- Bracelet comes last since you can use True Ice as filler.
- The rest is optional.
2.4 BLM Crafted Gear Viability
As a general rule of thumb… ACCURACY and SPELL SPEED if it fits, followed by either DET or CRIT (pretty equal in my eyes, but I favor DET heavily for consistency). Heres some cost-effective melds.Arachne Culottes of Casting is absolutely insane!! SS IV, DET IV, (Cap SS by putting a SS II somewhere here)
Arachne Bolero is a good investment: 2x ACC IV (if you need it) DET and CRIT follow

Rogue/Ninja FAQ
Rogue/Ninja FAQ
How do I become an Rogue! You cannot choose Rogue as a starting class, so you have to beat your level 10 class quest on any other class before choosing to become a Rogue. If you’re a new player and plan on going Ninja straight up, choose Pugilist as your starting class and may as well level it to 15.
Where is the Rogue guild?
The Rogue guild is located in Limsa Lominsa.
What’s the best Rogue race?
Elezen Wildwoods, [more info: Racial Stats guide], Since they have the highest DEX (23). The next best races in order:
Mi’Qote: Seeker of the Sun (22)
Lalafell Plainsfolk (22)
Hyur: Highlander (21)
Roegadyn: Sea Wolf (18)
What’s the best Rogue god?
God choice is irrelevant for Rogues right now. [more info: Gods guide]
What are the best crafting and gathering jobs for Rogue?
Blacksmith (Weapons), Leatherworker (Armor) and Goldsmith (Accessories in general).
The most ideal gathering job to support this is Mining (But sadly all ninja daggers need wood, so a little bit of Botany)
What advanced jobs require Rogue?
Ninja requires (???)30. It’s the only job which requires Rogue as of now.
[Complete Job requirements Guide]
What’s a good Rogue stats build?
DEX (Increases Damage), with VIT coming a far second (Increase HP pool). For secondary stats and more in-depth info check the link below.
